Rays Sign Liberatore
The Tampa Bay Rays have officially inked their first round selection, Mathew Liberatore.
Liberatore was the 16th overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft. According to Jim Callis of MLB.com, the Lefty signed for $3.5million. He will join the Rookie–level Gulf Coast League Rays.
The 18 year-old went 8–1 with a 0.93 ERA and 104 strikeouts as a senior at Mountain Ridge High School and was Arizona’s Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year. He was named a first–team Rawlings/Perfect Game All–American for this past season, and helped lead Mountain Ridge to the Class 6A state championship game.
