Hip Hop Opera in Sarasota

SARASOTA – Written, produced directed and starring Joel P.E. King, ‘Real Life’ is an examination of the city life in an urban society.
The main character, Ray, is forced to choose his morality over the streets.
King says Real life was written to inspire hope while uncovering problems many people are unaware of. He says race relations is not the core of the story but rather Community accountability.
“The energy really in relationships. The show is all about relationships. Even getting to this point was about relationships. Appreciating the people and satisfying the need when you come here you commit to what that need is and the universe has a way of creating the return,” said King.
‘Real Life’ runs through June 16th at Westcoast Black Theater at 1646 10th Way in Sarasota.
