BRADENTON – School Board District 4 candidate Linda Schaich and Manatee County Supervisor of Elections candidate Ed Bailey announced new endorsements this week. Schaich was backed by the MEA, the union which represents local teachers, while Bailey was given the nod by the Fraternal Order of Police.

“I am so excited to get the endorsement from the teacher’s Union,” said Schaich who has also been endorsed by the AFSCME, which represent the district’s school bus drivers, giving her a solid foundation among school employees. Earlier, Schaich was endorsed by Tea Party Manatee, Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance and NUBE (neighbors united for a better education). She faces incumbent Bob Gause in the August 14 non-partisan race that will decide the next district 4 board member.

The Manatee chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police (lodge 70) has endorsed Edward Bailey for Manatee County Supervisor of Elections.

“It’s a honor and a privilege to have the support of the men and women who risk their lives every day for us” said Bailey, who’s also been endorsed by Manatee Sheriff Brad Steube and Tea Party Manatee. Bailey will compete in a crowded field of Republicans in the August 14 GOP primary, in which 4 candidates will compete for the nomination, with the winner going on to face sole Democratic candidate Charles Williams.
